The objective of the revitalization of the popular bicycle path and its surroundings is to improve the safety at this location using SOS buttons and a camera system, which will be able to predict possible dangerous situations utilizing its acoustic and anonymized visual data. At the same time, the smart technologies should also improve comfort of the visitors.
“We perceive furnishing of the Židovské Pece park public space and of the bicycle path beneath Vítkov with smart outdoor furniture as one of the parts of the smart city concept. The locations of individual smart elements will allow for new forms of the public space use. While a Wi-Fi connection, for example, is nice, it does hardly surprise anybody any more. Nevertheless, if you are able to charge your phone or electric bicycle in the park, if you know that the SOS button on the lamp post can connect you with the police control room, or that the installed smart lighting system is saving not only money, but also the environment, the whole thing starts making sense. We perceive furnishing of the public space with smart outdoor furniture as one of the many smart city parts, which is directly linked to, for example, the use of electric bicycles, safety of the area or energy consumption savings,“ commented the Prague 3 project the deputy chairman for Smart City Mr. Alexander Bellu.
