One of the Smart City projects is a system of contactless fare payments directly in public transport vehicles. Since April, visitors and inhabitants of Prague can use this option on Tram Line 22 and Periphery Bus 381 as part of a yearlong pilot project. If successful, terminals for contactless payments will be installed on other lines in the future.

The payment is simple. The passenger chooses a ticket type on the terminal and then pays by simply placing their contactless payment card (Visa or MasterCard) close to the terminal. The system works on the basis of one ticket one transaction.

Payment security is the same as for other contactless payments in shops.
