Adriana Krnáčová, the mayor of Prague, has symbolically babtized the new smart bench placed on Puškinovo náměstí today. It is one of the first solar benches being installed by municipal company Operátor ICT within the pilot project in the Smart Prague concept.
A specially equipped bench has been installed on Puškin Square in Prague 6, which offers both inhabitants and visitors smart functions.
“In addition to taking a rest, it is possible to charge your mobile or tablet, connect to the Internet, learn about the current air temperature and humidity, and the amount of CO2 in the air,” explains the Mayor.
An integral part of the smart bench is the so-called vertical garden. In the summer, the green vegetation in the bench´s double-sided panel reduces the amount of particulate matter, the temperature, and the noise levels in the immediate surroundings of the bench. The vegetation is automatically watered using collected rainwater. All this is driven by clean electric power generated through solar panels.
