Representatives from Smart Prague attended the SPARCS (Sustainable energy Positive & zero cARbon CommunitieS) conference in Leipzig on December 12 and 13.
SPARCS is a project that supports cities facing diverse sustainability challenges. It seeks to showcase innovative energy system solutions that are transforming our cities towards sustainability and zero carbon emissions. To make this possible, important players are involved: industry, research institutions, urban studies and cities' technical departments.
There are already cities where energy sustainable communities have been created. These cities have experience and can pass on the models already tested to other cities.
In Leipzig, a meeting was held to share these experiences and projects in the field of energy sustainability.
The model itself is very interesting and the specific projects presented in Leipzig were inspiring. Some could be implemented in the Czech Republic, others are not transferable. It also showed that many of the experiences we have in the Czech Republic in implementing energy projects are similar to those in e.g. northern Germany. An important aspect of this meeting was also to make contact with not only foreign participants but also with Czech ones. For example, representatives of the city of Kladno, where interesting projects in the field of energy sustainability have been created, which also have the potential for further development (more detailed information can be found e.g. here: Kladno - Sparcs). It would be useful to develop this potential and to maintain and deepen these contacts for the benefit of our cities.
